Re: Another Mayor bites the dust.
I wish someone would look into the activities of our mayor. There is a cement works just outside the village which was built on land sold to them by the mayor. Now, after 15 years, it has been decided that it isn't environmentally friendly to the villagers and homes nearby so they have been given an order to close and dismantle the buildings. The mayor, however, has come up with an idea for them......he has sold them land, at a vastly increased price to what he bought it for, where he says they can rebuild and continue to operate. This land is within the boundaries of the village
To quote part of a recent newspaper article....
"It is hard to imagine the concept whereby a plant which has already been closed for environmental reasons outside the village, can somehow suddenly become environmentally friendly inside the village. Evidently, the nuances of this were lost on the Mayor."
A denuncia has been taken out on the mayor but nothing more has been said on the matter since the newspaper aricle in November. To make matters worse, there was a council meeting in January and the mayor paid people to fill the room and even overspill onto the stairway, arriving early before the villagers could arrive. Therefore preventing the villagers from being able to listen in and comment on village matters! To quote a newspaper article on the event....
"On Saturday, in preparation for the noon ‘open forum’ Council meeting, more than 30 itinerant workers marched through the town to take up the majority of the seats in the (very small) Council chambers in the Ayuntamiento. By the time the locals arrived, it was standing room only for most. Many stood on the stairs and others waited next door in the bar, due to lack of space.
Why was there such a crowd? Well, as a result of some very angry exchanges of opinion between the various political factions, the Mayor, Vincente Llinares, is believed to have invited ‘rent-a-crowd’ to the meeting in what many perceived to be ‘bully boy’ tactics and intimidation. "
Corruption is rife throughout Spain

Why not learn about everything that is required and/or needed for a purchase and then use a local Gestor?

Greed !
Always a downfall of humans (that and lust)
I've come to the conclusion long ago that globally any buy/sell transaction is about deception to some degree... the higher the potential reward, the bigger potential for deception... from trying to get a refund from a retailer to buying car-hire... to trying to buy on-line with Ebay... to real estate and finances and lots in between... And we are now in mess !!
Even modern day marketing is deception.... adverts exaggerate or mislead... you must read the small print which is written to deceive and confuse anyway.
what chance does a Joe Bloggs have?
It's 'if you want this I am going to rip you off" .... GREED GREED GREED

If there where 50,000 towns in Spain then your odds of guessing right would be about.... 1 in 50,000, if you do not think this is realistic then you don't know much about this country.... .... not joking!
Unfortunately corruption is a way of life in Spain as it is in some other med countries, that is the way it has been in all the years I have been here and that is the way it still is, it's just now the sums of money are now obscene while before they where just a few thousand pesetas.... always existed.
The problem will not go away either, at least not for many generations if at all... if you think about it you will realise why.... but that is the ways things are here.

I meant this as a bit of humour but I think it is probably actually true, you will probably find these people are the ones getting their backs scratched along the way... hopefully everyone will waken up some day.
