Airport delays

Re: Airport delays
I'm flying next week - is the problem at EU airports trying to fly in/out or does it affect UK airport departures as well?
Just so I can allow extra time if need be.

Re: Airport delays
Ryanair, Easyjet and others are telling their British customers to get to the airport 3 hours prior to take off. There were big queues at bagdrop and security last month in Edinburgh. There are stories of flights leaving without folk and they have no redress

Re: Airport delays
in the UK there are always PC delays as they always scan every passport (at entry. There are no passport checks on departure from UK). In spain they just used to scan every third or fourth person.
That has changed. They now apply UK controls with half the staff.

Re: Airport delays
While I can understand the need for increased security and vigilance, I'm still a bit perplexed as to why these stringent checks are being done as people leave the Schengen zone rather than as they arrive.

From Sky News-
It's just too bad, poor British holidaymakers
Meanwhile, other flyers complained about arriving early to find no delays in passport control areas.
Jason Walsh tweeted: "Come to the airport early, they said. There are delays, they said. Now have three hours to wait in airport."

Why are Ryanair telling us to arrive early, if nothing's changed when leaving the UK? I don't get it!

No change in the UK, so thats just inefficiency. The change is in EU airports where there are massive delays.

Besides, "taking back control" is what Brexit is for, right? Well, welcome to "taking back control". Nonexistent problems solved by nonexistent solutions. It's what you voted for.

Re: Airport delays
Same here, rachelk. Ryanair is telling us there are delays at "immigration control points across [their] European network"
But also telling us to arrive 3 hours early for our flights. I thought "immigration" meant "coming in". But we have to arrive early to "go out". I still don't get it!
I shall arrive early, and fully expect to spend 3 hours just sitting around in the airport (assuming we can find a seat!)

The articles I have read state to arrive at departure airport 3 hours early if returning to non Schengen areas like UK. Not at uk airports 3 hours earlier?

Re: Airport delays
Flew from Malaga yesterday to Germany and expected long delays due to all the talk. Wasn't so. Busy certainly, as it mostly is, but arriving the normal two hours beforehand was perfectly fine.

But aren't Spain and Germany both within the Schengen area so would not be affected?

Re: Airport delays
Reports from [British] travellers on TripAdvisor seem to indicate it's all pretty normal. Busy as usual, but nothing extraordinary.
