SINGAPORE BEST MONEY EXCHANGE? $$$ AND ADVICE FOR HOUSING LOCATION NEEDED NEAR NUS!
hello all, hope you are well.
arrived with my family in singapore safely a week ago from greece,
and started flat hunting for a 2-3 bed.
have seen 8 different places, via agent and liked a place at PALM GREEN at pasir panjang road..
-anyone has any info on this complex please??
-whats the transport like to the centre of the city???
-any daily supermarket/ shopping areas nearby????
we know there's no mrt station nearby, apart from clementi.
its pretty close to my wife's work at the NUS, and we are wondering if its a good choice walking to work (1.2 km) and then having to commute with buses / mrt to the evening amenities in the centre of the city, (gym, restaurants, brs etc..)
what would your advice be please?
is it preferable to rent a flat nearby work, or a bit closer to the centre??????
our budget of 4k $sg can surely give us a 3 bed+1 near nus, or a 2 bed closer to the centre...[/b]
also we would like to know the best place to exchange some money please with an address if possible so we can tell the taxi driver.
kindest regards and god bless you all,
happy xmas

You should have asked the questions of the agent showing you around or the owner if the owner accompanied you.
Any Money Changer. They really all are much of a muchness unless you are changing a lot of money.

As previous poster said, money exchangers are good and all much the same - we are always amazed at the good exchange rates you can get converting from one currency to another not including the local currency eg Euros to Thai Baht. In other currencies you'd get slapped with a double charge.
Re walking to work, I don't think that is an option unless it is undercover all the way from your place (unlikely). You've been there a week so you should have experienced a monsoon downpour and it's not the kind of rain you can just walk along with an umbrella - during the NE Monsoon (which is now until about January) it's not unusual to get heavy rain non-stop for a few days at a time. A bit of a challenge if you don't have a car and not near MRT (we have this problem).
Re particular properties, suggest you either google or other search engine or put a posting on expatsingapore website. Good luck and enjoy your stay in Singapore.
