Advice please : i have been offered a position in Singapore,i have heard that you have to have a medical to complete your working visa application form is this true and what does the medical consist of.

I'm a few years out of date now (left in 2002), but the medical used to be pretty straightforward general stuff, plus a chest x-ray checking for TB and an HIV test. Story was (and I DONT know whether this was official policy or not) that if you were positive for either, your visa would be rejected. Check out the SIR website and they should have more info, or try posting on expatsingapore.com

SIR (Singapore Immigration and Registration) ceased to exist a few years ago. They are now known as Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

In any case, employment passes are not handled by ICA, although they are issued by ICA. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) processes employment passes.

Medical/X-ray requirements for employment passes are stated briefly here:
