I wonder how much money they spent on that, does it serve a purpose.......are there even any zebras there?

I'm not sure that zebra crossings in Spain serve any purpose apart from to park on (they vie with roundabouts) and to make it easier for pedestrians to provide target practice for motorists.

More likely White Elephants,
You can find them all over Spain in the strangest of places.
Maybe some of our EU money involved as well, seems a nice quiet spot for them to throw it away and lose it altogether.

there are 3 in our street, but only 28 houses.
all built on one side of the road, no houses on the other side, just scrubland.
