360 degree live feed of Gibraltar weather as educational tool
A local weather consultancy is hoping to use a 360 degree live-stream as an educational tool to increase people's understanding of weather patterns in real time.
Steph Ball of Meteogib has installed the high definition camera on the seventh floor roof of the World Trade Centre.

Re: Gibraltar 2 - Treaty of Cartegena
A paper on the Treaty of Cartegena by which Spain apparently concedes the sovereignty of Gibraltar. Estoppel means that they may not later retract!
This is also the same treaty which Spain claims that Cueta and Melilla should not be returned to Morocco.

Re: Gibraltar 2
There is a new book about the last great siege of Gibraltar by a combined Spanish, French fleet.
At the time the UK was also trying to retain its American colonies.
The book puts forward the theory that had the British relinquished Gibraltar and returned it to Spain , Spain would ceased fighting giving the UK far more naval and military resources to fight the American colonists.
It would have had a fleet in position to fight the French in American waters whose blockade resulted in the defeat of the British.
It is therefore possible that the existence of the US is owed to British intransigence over Gibraltar.

Any pics of HMS Diamond in Gib, Fred? We watched her leaving Portsmouth last week.
I understand that HMS Ocean will shortly be in Gib to pick up relief supplies and manpower, having been re-tasked with assistance to the civil powers in the Caribbean. I don't think the GC will interfere with Ocean, though.

Dastis reassures frontier fluidity
Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alfonso Dastis, sought to reassure cross-border workers yesterday during a visit to La Linea, insisting Madrid would work to minimise the impact of Brexit on Spanish citizens, “and very especially those from the Campo and La Linea”.
Sr Dastis signalled that Spain would seek to ensure frontier fluidity after Brexit.
“We are not going to implement any visa and as for fluidity, we are confident that this situation will not be an obstacle,” he said
He nonetheless cautioned that outside the EU, there may be a need for tighter controls as a result of the security situation

Spanish court recognises Gib’s right to contest defamatory comments in Spain
The Spanish Supreme Court yesterday ruled in favour of the Gibraltar Government and concluded it had the right to contest and call for “rectification and correction” in respect of any incorrect facts which may be published in the Spanish media and may be deemed harmful to Gibraltar institutions and society.
The ruling yesterday was the culmination of a lengthy legal battle and a series of appeals between the Gibraltar Government and the Spanish daily newspaper ABC.
Yesterday the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo said the Government was very pleased that the legally correct conclusion has been reached which “recognizes the legal personality of Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar”.
