Cheapest and easiest way to transfer money over to a Canadian landlord
#1
Hi Everyone,
Myself and my OH have found a place we like in Vancouver and we are in the process of sorting out tenacy agreement extra and paying a deposit.
What would be the easiest way to transfer funds over to our new landlord?
Bank transfer, wiring money, paypal?
Thanks in advance for your time and help
Mike

You might want to check into them - there are many, many scams going on with regards to rental accommodation.

Mikeypm has family in Vancouver so hopefully they have checked this out for him. If so, a bank transfer with leave a trace. Never use a money transfer company like Western Union.

Also my gut feeling is that everything is fine and above board.
Thanks everyone for their concern. It's very much appreciated

In that case you could presumably transfer the money using an exchange like CurrencyFair.
That's how I've moved money over from the UK to Canada in the past. Tends to get a decent enough rate.
Presumably you could place the monies into a family members bank account and have them withdraw it and pay the landlord.

I hope you have verified that the person really is a landlord and that there really is a place.
