Hi,
I'm considering applying for a permanent non sponsored visa, and assuming that part goes to plan. I'm just wondering how receptive Australians are to giving interviews to people outside Australia.
Obviously if i got offered a job, i'd move ASAP, but i'd rather have a job to go to, rather than turn up with no work set up.
Thanks
James

Well really not much to go on there.
How about telling us what you do?

Hi,
I am sorry, my brain must have been away with the fairies when i wrote that post, in brief:
I’m UK citizen employed in the UK having been in continuous employed since graduation from university in 2002
I'm planning on application for a visa under the Anzco 261313 (Software Engineer)
My qualifications are as follows:
• Bachelor’s Degree From a UK University
• 11 Years’ Experience in IT
• Progression From Software Developer To Systems’ Architect
• Worked with Several Blue Chip Companies
• Member Of The British Computing Society (Paid For Membership, However There Are Entrance Requirements)
Also attached is my CV, if anyone has any advice as to what might need tweaking for the Australian market, feel free to let me know.
Cheers
James

I think ur better off applying to California. That's where the Aussies go.

You might get lucky, but IT is not an area where people typically need to look for overseas candidates. You may find you will only make progress when you get here.

Realistically you have zero chance.
Employers want people here ready to go, not in 2-3 months time. Your CV will in all likelihood go straight into the 'too-hard' pile even if you have a visa.
The only exception to that rule would some of specialist Medical professions and some engineering disciplines e.g. oil and gas where people are really, really hard to find.
