Just wanted to update on this issue as it seems Singapore have changed the rules recently.

As far as I (and others who've posted about this) was aware you couldn't drive a Malaysian car into Singapore if you were a Singaporean or a Singapore PR.

It now appears that if you are on a Dependent's Pass that also disqualifies you from driving a Malaysian car into Singapore - but it's still ok if you're on an Employment Pass.

Seems very odd to me but I now know of two people on DPs who've been turned around at the border with their Malaysian cars.

Bit of a bummer for those looking for a cost saving on their cars whilst living in Johor!

Bocat, this whole "live in Malaysia, work in S'pore" thing is looking less attractive each day!
I think I'm going to put the kids on a waiting list for a school in S'pore and use the one in Nusajaya as a stop gap!! They aren't working together at all!

That's very odd, isn't it. I wonder what their thinking is behind it. For the record, MM2Hers can drive a Malaysian car into Singapore. We've done it. A bit expensive though.

Can't remember what I said then but I've asked on another forum if anyone can point to the law in black and white.

But iirc Malaysian cars in Singapore had only 20 days plus Public Holidays and week ends.

If I get a definitive answer elsewhere I'll post it here.

Sometimes the two Governments tend to bring in tit for tat legislation so I hope it doesn't effect Singapore cars being driven in Malaysia.

geedee - believe me everything feels like one step forward and ten steps back moving over here - but I'm still glad we did it so maybe that tells you something!!

I also have a couple of friends who didn't really want to move here but did for various reasons and they both now prefer it to Singapore.

That said - we all still love Sing and have the best of both worlds as we can visit when we want/need to.

I really think you need to get here to help you make the decision.

We would love to live in Nusajaya, if only for the reason it's close to the school.... but considering they are keen to develop the area, they do seem to make it awkward to move there (unless you're already established in S'pore.)

An estate agent I'm dealing with sent me an email saying 90% of his clients live there and work in S'pore, so I don't doubt it's a good option. I'm just really worried that we'll be turned away when we turn up straight from Canada with 3 pets!!

It seems the situation is quite liquid with nothing 100% fixed.
