I have purchased RBC insurance for my travel insurance several times. Competitive prices, although i have never needed to use it.

No but your Canadian private health benefits through the employer might cover travel insurance regarding sickness. Ours does but then when we went over and one of the kids got ill and we went to a walk in they told us they are not set up for private paying and it'll all be paid by the NHS and then we needed drugs and again as the kid is 16 it was free.
Flight wise we paid with a credit card. We had no further insurance and figured if they lose our suitcase the airline has to find it and we are covered to a certain extend and if we miss a connecting flight due to a delay (which we did in Philly) then they have to book us on another one. So the risk was minimal and for us not worth the extra insurance which as far as I can remember would have been quite expensive.

Emergency treatment and walk in clinics are free for all though. If you don't have the right to remain in the UK and are admitted as an inpatient in this situation you would be expected to pay charges. I doubt you could buy repatriation insurance separately though so this may be irrelevant but if your not a PR yet do you want that or can you even buy it?
