Default Move to Spain. Is it QROPS the best option?

Hi,

I'm thinking about moving to Spain. Have been searching around and QROPS seems a good option. Could someone give any advice? Is it really needed to hire a financial advisor??

Many thanks

Hi

I always think QROPS is a cash cow to any financial advisor - and therefore not to be touched with the proverbial barge pole. As I understand the sales talk, it allows you to take money out of your pension early - not to be advised when you actually need to maximise your pension to live here.

No you haven't, I'm afraid its automatic for threads on this subject to be monitored carefully here because it is so common here for IFA's and financial companies to use this forum for stealth spamming . Useful discussion is welcomed here, as usual

But if you have information that is of interest then please share for others, rather than keep it in the pm system

Hi to all, Qrops is a good thing? if you wish to use part of your pension for something worth while! if you live overseas you can take 30% of your fund as cash! then invest the rest in an offshore plan approved by HMRC tax office! if you require the details of whom i used and the plan, then give me the OK to broadcast on this thread! i must mention that if you leave your money in England and die you pay 55% in death tax! if you move it you pay nothing!

Well, Ive got to be honest you are following (hopefully unknowingly) the actual way that IFAs stealth spam QROPS and sound like a sales person. So I'd have to say thanks for your offer of details of the company, but no thanks

why would you want to take the advice of wrinkly old expats (well a few anyway) who know nothing, done nothing with their lives (well a few anyway)

who can you blame if it all goes wrong ?? Freda from Benidorm or a fully fledged, trained and listed Independent Financial Adviser ??

Please excuse the vitriol but surely your private questions about your private pension pot are your private business - unless you wish to give us all a good laugh (or cry) and post your Modelo 720 information here for us to paw over

well you must excuse the cynicism we have to newcomers who post they are moving to Coimbra in Portugal but come to Spain to talk about us buying QROPS. As Mitzy said we have had a large number of people posting QROPS and to have no involvement in any other area of BE then people become suspicious.
Perhaps if you had posted on other discussions instead of blasting away full pelt here it would be taken more kindly.

but then those who really have a tale to tell will bounce back and take part in this expat community instead of looking for somewhere else, having first carried out a search for those hated letters before posting.....

enjoy
