Despite the inflammatory tone of this article, I don't really have an opinion on this sport. I was shocked though by the number of horses killed every year in the UK - 150. Animal welfare standards in the UK are high and most people genuinely care about animals, so how can this race be popular?
If bull-fighting is evil, how is this sport not? Surely you can have horse racing without killing the horses!

But there'd be no lasagne at Tasco's without it.
Seriously though, it there's even one horse lost in this race every year, they need to ban it because there's something wrong. From a quick google search it seems that jumps racing is the worst for causing fatal injuries to horses.

It wasn't me who brought up the issue of class
Anyway aren't you equally outraged about horse racing in Australia or is this just another of your attempted puerile point scoring exercises?

I'm not outraged by horse racing anywhere. It's up to the imbeciles who follow it how they spend their money
Killing horses for gambling purposes is not cool in any country
