Default metal gazebos/screen houses

Who has a gazebo, if you would recommend it where did you get it?

I have a fancy to build a screened room just off our kitchen but building regs won't allow this as the septic is too close. However we could build a deck without needing a permit and put a screened gazebo on top of the deck. The area would be 10 x 10 and set in a right angle made by the kitchen and the sunroom. I imagine we would need a wall or railing around part of the deck and that some guttering would have to be Heath-Robinsoned on the two walls by the house. I want to put a door into the kitchen wall which would lead out onto the deck/gazebo and there is already a door from the sunroom. There would also have to be a seal of some sorts between the gazebo and the house to stop the pesky mosquitoes getting in.

Am despondent as I've spent the winter planning my lovely screened area and now it looks as if it won't happen. I feel a sulk coming on.

I don't know if you have considered one, but Sears do an "add a room" solarium which can be put on a deck or on blocks. It has 2 doorways (you can choose where) and windows all around. They are also not too expensive and a lot cheaper than adding a 'proper' sunroom but are still 4 season and they 'seal' to the wall they are attached to with a wall track.

The 12 x 8 on is $3,000 and the 16 x 8 one is $3,300

12 x 8 - This add-a-room model comes with two single doors that you can put where you want. The door handles are reinstalled and allow you to decide to open the door to the left or to the right. The wind panels can slide all the way down to the bottom or in any of the 5 positions of the Solarium to allow maximum air circulation. Both ends of the door rail are closed off to keep bugs from coming in and reproducing.
Interior dimensions 140" x 91 1/2" x 96" at the wall

Sears also have lots of cheaper 'screen rooms', but they seem really flimsy in comparison.

I'm not sure you will be able to get a good seal to the kitchen door with a gazebo unless it's built from scratch.

I looked at the add on rooms as they seemed the answer, not so lovely looking but they are too big, none of the measurements can be more than 10 feet.

i'm wondering if a 'temporary' structure can be built. Maybe using wooden posts into holes in the deck corners and then making custom screen net covers. Also considering an awning from the house and then hanging screen nets from that. You can buy them with velcro attachments

They look quite good. Actually they seem much better than an awning for shade and keeping the rain off when the smokers go out for a drag.

I'm not sure they're sturdy enough for the tail ends of hurricanes that come this way. Nor the weight of snow that could build up before one could clear it off.

Two years ago our garden shed collapsed under the snow.

My in-laws have one of these fancy retractable awnings (without the bug net as its in the UK) but in the winter they open it out and dry the washing under it when it's raining - just a useful aspect you may not have thought of

We had two metal walmart specials in the first few years here, both damaged by wind. So now have a wooden one built attached to the house.

Bet you didn't have to contend with the septic location. I think this project is dead in the water. I better get over it.
