UK disabled blue badges
#1
Hi All,
My parents are due to visit in August and in the UK my dad has a blue badge for parking. Does anyone know if you could use this in Ontario?
Thanks
Mark

Deleted because it came across as discriminatory and it wasn't meant to

My brother is in a chair and forgot to bring his badge the one visit. We got a $320 fine for illegal parking. Sent a photocopy of his badge to the court and got the charge thrown out.
Used his badge ever since without a problem. My Dad has one too and we also use that every visit without a hitch.

My mother in law brought her badge when she visited us in Ottawa. We went to city hall, they had a look at it and gave us a list where we were allowed to park.

Again, no problems when my father in law visited (Alberta/BC trip). I called up our city hall to enquire about a temporary permit for him and they said the UK badge is fine here.

I must admit I'm pretty flabbergasted that UK blue badges are good for foreign countries, especially one where nowhere seems to be more than 20 yards from a massive 'regular' parking lot.

Without wishing to offend any person with real disabilities Im also flabbergasted that the mall parking lots are not one huge car park with several thousand disabled spots judging by some of the drivers on Canadian roads nowadays.

I guess you'll have to find something else to use as a beer mat.
