Knife laws in France
Hello!
Does anyone have information on the knife laws in France? It is very confusing. My husband is a professional knife maker and he would like to continue making knives in France. Is this possible?
On the whole knife carry thing, I understand you have to have a sporting license to carry fixed blade knives or locking folders in "public" places. What is this sporting license and what is a public place?
I will try not to bother everyone, but I'm likely to have tons of questions!
Thank you.

Sorry I can't help more than give you the following link:
http://www.institut-metiersdart.org/...etal/coutelier
which gives info on the profession. If there are no employment opportunities in the main knife-making areas in France, your OH could possibly set himself up as an Auto-Entrepreneur (google this, or make a forum search, top right-hand corner, the system has been discussed at length).
Google didn't offer anything for "Permis de port d'armes blanches" and "Public places" generally means everywhere where the public has access, but in the case of knife-carrying, I would imagine anywhere outside one's home or professional workshop. I didn't find an official definition...
Hope this helps a little, and fire away with any other questions!
