Question Info on getting US Citizenship

Hi All,

Seeing as this forum proved to be an invaluable resource when getting my husbands K1 visa over 5 years ago, I thought I would return for more advice. We are talking of possibly returning to the UK in the next 2-5 years. If we do this my husband would become a US Citizen so that we could move back if we choose.

Can someone point me in the direction of what steps he would need to take? Any experiences to share? Anyone gone this route and regretted it? What would you have done differently? How long does the process take? And what are the costs (all inclusive ie biometrics et al).

Thank you!!

You're in the right place.

Go to www.uscis.gov. Look up Form N-400 for the application and instructions. This will also tell you the fee involved.

Also look up the "USCIS Guide to Naturalization", which is the booklet with everything you need to know about how to become a USC.

Processing time from start to finish is about 6 months in most cases.

As for pros and cons to becoming a USC, there is a Wiki article here with exactly that topic! http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Pros_a...US_Citizenship
