Default Air Brake Endorsement

Can some one tell me if the airbrake endorsement is something a UK license holder would have to obtain to drive commercials in Vancouver

Anyone driving a vehicle with air brakes has to have an air brake endorsement. It is a separate test.

For class one you have to take a commercial driving test as well as an air brake course and test. Without taking the air brake test you cannot drive any vehicle with air brakes here.

There is no reciprocal licensing for commercial other than within Canada.

The best and cheapest was to get your B Z lincense( airbrake endorsement) is to get a job with one of the many school bus companies. The training takes about 15 days and is free. You don't have to work for them at the end of it. I have just got mine and have been driving for one of the bigger bus companies since the start of the school term this year. With the BZ you can drive most vehicles bar a tractor trailer..I'm in Ontario.

I studied the book (available from local servive centre) for a week and spent an afternoon in the workshop watching a fitter stripping brakes/pots/valves etc

If you have any questions PM me as I only took it a few months ago and its all still quite fresh.

ps most decent trucking companies will give you all the help/training you could need once you are here (If you are a trucker)
