Default 5 year x visa question

Long time since ive been on this site.
As i said before, i was lucky enough,
and determined to get a 5 year x visa
when my last one expired.
This was issued in may 09, due to family
problems i never got back to my home in
Benaulim.
I now hope to go back in november but
only for 4 months.
On my visa, the same as the last it
says regestration required within 14 days.
As im staying less than 180 days, do i still
need to register???????.
Thanks.

Oh so you don't know everything then? You moan about Goa but you have a house there & are going back in November.

Mind you don't get knocked over or savaged by the dogs.
Take care as I will be in Goa then with my big fat cat with all his fleas and ticks

Bubblybear - people have tried to help you since you recently came onto this forum, but now you are doing nothing but being rude and attacking people. Being antagonistic does not become members.

Thanks Noni, what a shite last 14 months, im still stuck in Spain, mum is now in a very good nursing home, oxygen 24-7, in a wheelchair.
I now intend to get back to Goa, if only for four
months, better than nothing.
The nursing home is 1000 pounds a week, so ive also had to sell my folks house in Spain, not easy in the middle of a huge recession.
Thanks

No Steve you don't need to register, for less than 180 days. I have always had a 5 year visa as spouse of NRI, but when travelling alone I have been often asked at immigration as to why I have a 5 year. So in view of new regulations have an answer ready.

You need to register with the FRO within 7 days i was told last year and if you do not register in the set time then you have to pay a fine at the home department (mine is a 5 year business visa) and this can stop you exiting India
I would go to the FRO to be on the safe side

The key fact is the 'less than 180 days'.

Sun Hunter,

I hope you don't mind me asking but are you a British born citizen with a British passport? If so, how hard to obtain was your five year business visa & did you obtain it relatively recently?

I currently have a one year business visa & when it expires I was contemplating applying for a longer term one.

Regards

H.

I'd also be interested to know how you managed to get a 5 year business visa.We just renewed our one year business visa a few weeks ago.We did try for a two year one,the reason given for not being allowed a longer one was because it's our own Indian company and we are not employed by a Uk company.A number of Brits i know here were given the same answer.

Unless you hold PIO or NRI status, I think it would be worth your while checking on whether or not you need to leave India every 180 days. Most visas require you to do this, even business visas.
Better to check and be on the safe side.

Dread - 'ful Indian visas
