Default flights

Anyone flown with Emirates and/or Spicejet? We have decided this year to go to Delhi first to see the Taj Mahal (always wanted to go but never made it) before flying down to Goa. Cheapest flights seem to be with Emirated and then internal flights with Spicejet. Just wondered what they are like as normally go direct to goa and also travelling with 2 kids.

Thanks
Sal

Hi Sally

I have never personally flown with Emirates, however a number of friends I have who work in the Gulf states use them regularly and say they are very good. My cousin used to fly with them several times a year, and always rang the airline in advance to ask for plain food for her kids as some of th meals were very hot, so something to consider before you fly. Have a good flight.

We used to fly Emirates UK to Mumbai regularly some years ago, and could not fault them in terms of service, comfort and customer care. I have heard nothing negative about them since, except perhaps price.

They became more expensive on the route we normally travel, but they have an excellent change of booking/cancellation service which is worth considering if you are doubtful about your dates. My understanding is that there is a £100 charge for changing flight times ( it used to be free for one change only) but considering BA are now charging £90 on any change - plus the difference in far), and they are going down the 'budget, no frills' path with almost £300 billion of debt, Emirates is looking attractive again, long haul.

Spicejet is a budget carrier, but considering the time in the air and if your expectations aren't too high, you'll get to Goa no problems. Yes, you could pay more for Kingfisher, but I don't think it's worth it for the extra money on a domestic flight.

Your choice. If you're getting a good price on the Emirates/Spicejet deal, go for it. Have a look at www.travelocity.co.in or www.yatra.com for great deals. It's a very competitive market for air fares at the moment; consumer's choice.
