Only applies to PR applicants, without job experience in Canada, working in Canada, Canadian studies, or no AEO.

* you have at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment, AND
* your work experience must be Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification list, AND
* you must have had this experience within the last 10 years.

As those applicants in the 7 LMO exempt categories have a FWP and are working in Canada, so CIC would work on the basis that their skills are already available in Canada and aren't required on the "list"
Thanks PMM.
The first step is:
Quote:
1. According to the Minister’s instructions, your application is eligible for processing if:

you have an offer of arranged employment, OR
you are a foreign national who has been living legally in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or an international student, OR
you are a skilled worker who has at least one year of experience in one or more of the occupations listed here.
Which (unless I'm missing something) I do not pass because I do not have an offer of employment, living in Canada, or on the LIST.
It only mentions computer system managers and I am not a manager. I do technical and consultancy work.

I read through the CIC site filled in the elligibility test and got:
Quote:
Based on your answers, you are close to qualifying for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. It appears that you could be eligible to apply if you secured a pre-arranged job in Canada and the required work experience.
So it looks like if I secure employment in Canada I can apply for PR?
Or does that tie me to that one employer?

Yes, you need to get a job to be able to get to Canada (or go one of the other routes i.e. Bunac visa, sponsorship by family, NS CIS stream, etc - read the Wiki for full details of each option).

And yes, it does tie you to that one employer until you have your PR.

Default Re: Official Occupation List

I have just seen the list for the first time and notice my occupation is on it. From what I have read here and on CIC website, if I apply to London under the FSW route and I am on the list I may be processed within 6-12 months give or take.

I am a supervisor in the oil, gas and chemical industry and up until now have tried to find a job first and take the PNP scheme in Alberta due to the wait times in the past.

However the occupational list will be processed straight away.

Could someone just confirm this to ensure I have not misunderstood.

Many thanks

Correct.

You still have to meet the other FSW criteria i.e. 67 points, funds etc. but if you do it is best to file your application NOW. It now seems the Conservative government may fall, and if that happens the Liberals and NDP may carry out their earlier promise to undo Bill C-50, which would effectively close this option.

Also, for those who already have a FSW application in the works, and whose occupation is on the list, I now have confirmation that having multiple skilled worker applications running concurrently is feasible. There is no need to withdraw your old FSW application before filing a new one. It has been pointed out to me that there is nothing in the Act or Regs that would prohibit multiple concurrent economic class applications, so if CHC London stated over the weekend that one must first withdraw an old FSW application before filing a new one, they are wrong.

Checked the wiki's and cannot find anything that says how you can get from working for an employer in Canada to PR status.
Is there a link to anywhere that explains how this can be achieved?

Thanks

You missed it! Here you go. http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Fast_T...ication-Canada

Another option is to use the relevant PNP programme if you can, via the employment stream.

If you are on the list and have had at least 1 year's experience in your field then that would be the case.

20 years in the Industry - 3 years coming up as supervisor so it may be that the prayers are being answered at last.

thanks for that

Actually just going to leave for 12 hour nightshift, but plenty of food for thought. Still need to get to the end of the process and be accepted - then get a job. But yes it makes me feel better than of late as jobs say must be legally entitld to work in Canada.

Will print out forms tonight and start to fill in.

Will keep you all posted as to where we get with it.

So where does this leave me and my wifes 1st new application, Since she was to be the lead applicant but now it seems all is done and dusted?

Can or will there be changes to the list if the requirements of jobs are in high demand which we thought and have heard from many biologists that canada requires them?

The list can be changed at any time, and judging by what is going on in Canadian politics at the moment, I think there could be a dramatic change in the not too distant future!
