Hi,

Last weekend i vivited a lookout just north of Stanwell Park,, this lookout
overlooked a small beach with shacks and boats, it appeared the only way to the beach
was via boat.

Does anyone know the name of this beach or where i can find out if any of the shacks
are available for rental.

Any info appreciated. cheers Jeff http://community.webshots.com/user/surfoz

I presume you are not talking about the beach which is South of Bald Hill, as that is
Stanwell Park beach, easily accessible from the town by road.

The beach to the North of Bald Hill is called Undola beach. I suppose it *might* be
possible to walk down to it through the National Park, but I'll leave that for others
to answer.

Followups trimmed.

Bulgo Beach you can see from the Otford Lookout.

Fishermans shacks are also at Burning Palms, Era, Mid Era, North Era, Little Gaire .
There were quite a few shacks through out the National Park in this region most have
been removed by the NPWS.

All of these are in the control of the NPWS who dictate the usage even though they
are in private ownership.

Would suggest that you contact them for more information.

The walk is steep as you can see . . down is easy and up is hard work
. . . the next beach North is Werronng (a legal nude beach)

The shacks are leftovers from the depression in some cases . . . as the Royal Nat
Park grew thew got swallowed up . . . they are all privately owned and exist only for
the life of the registered owner and are then demolished . . . this arrangement saw
many of them "owned" by young children at the registration time in the 1960's.

Some are available for hire on an informal basis.

Any number of beaches up to Gary Beach would satisfy this criteria. And you gotta
love the shacks. When you're outside offStanwell, looking back they pass quite easily
as a Shanty Town.

I think the name of the beach is Bolga Beach and you can walk in, I think there is a
track out of Otford.

As for hiring the shacks they are all privately owned and aren't supposed to be
rented. The NPWS are slowly getting rid of them as the owners 99 yr land lease runs
out. This includes Burning Palms, Era, Nth Era, Sth Era and Little Garie.

Mark.
