Block sizes: m2 vs squares
how do I translate from squares to m2.
Some block sizes are given in one, some in the other.
Is it just muliply it by itself, ie if its 18 squares is that 18*18 = 324m2
Or if its 700m2 is it 700*700 = 49 squares?
Or is it something more arcane?

Re: Block sizes: m2 vs squares
18 squares is 167.2 m2 or 1800 sq ft.
One square (10 foot x 10 foot) = 9.29 sq. metres. To convert squares to metres multiply by 9.29 and to convert metres to squares multiply by 0.1078.
The square is a non-SI non-metric measure of floor area, that was used in the past in Australia. It is defined as the area under the roof of the building and each square is 100 sq feet or 10 foot by 10 foot. It was often used by estate agents to make the building sound larger as it includes outside areas under the eaves, and so cannot be directly compared to the (internal) floor area. The square can be divided into 4 halves. Today buildings in Australia are sold with an area given in square metres.
[edit] Conversions
1 square equals
* 100 square feet
* approximately 9.29 square meters
