I got married after getting my H1B Approval. So my wifes name is not
included in any document. My attorney informed me, while applying,
that I would only need get an interview for my wife with the consular
office with my appointment and include her in the visa application and
that would be enough to get H4 for my wife. But when I tried to do so,
they told me that she should have an approval. How can I get an
approval and how long would it take? I'm currently in Egypt (my home
country).
Thank you

When I got my H4, all I needed was a copy of my husband's H1b approval notice, plus marriage and birth certificates.
Have you checked the website of the US Consulate in Cairo - maybe they have some guidelines? Or call again - sometimes you get different 'information' from different people. Or, as a last resort, try bringing her along to your interview.

She can't get an approval, there's no such thing as an approval for an
H-4. Your attorney was right; to get an H-4 visa she applies for one
and presents proof that you are an H-1B and that she is your wife.
The Consulate have screwed up, and it's not the first time I've heard
of nonsense like this. You'll have to contact the Consulate to sort it
out.
