Default What to pack in bags?

Any tips on what to pack in luggage that is flying with us that we'll need while we wait the ?? weeks for our container to arrive? We can take 120kg checked in luggage between the 4 of us. Plus 28kg hand luggage.

Clothes, essential paperwork, toiletries and toys for kids are on our list so far.

Photo albums - cos they are precious.
A couple of really good knives (that you already own)
A corkscrew/bottle opener.
Your favourite mug/coffee cup.
Pillow/sleeping bag - if u dont want to buy stuff while u are waiting for yours to arrive.

We are taking some things from the kids bedroom that will make them feel at home - example from Jonah's room is his framed "golden ticket" LOL

The problem with photo albums is that they weigh a fair bit. We just came with suitcases and we actually brought holdalls too as they weigh so little compared to a case.
So all the clothes went in big holdalls which full weighed about 12kg. We had a holdall each which fit all the clothes we needed in so this then left 18kg each for other stuff. We gave the kids a suitcase to fill with the toys and bits and bobs that they wanted to bring initially and I think I ended up giving my 18kg to the kids too!!
We actually ended up with about 15kg each in hand luggage too but I think they are more particular now and weigh it so I wouldn't risk that.
Hope this helps

Top of my list is a wireless enabled laptop.
Invaluable for finding our way around, finding accomodation, finding work, chatting to rellies back home (via Skype), and watching DVD's/listening to music (all stored on HDD).
Couldn't survive even a week without it!

It's very scary how much the clothes weigh! Depends on when you are arriving and when your container arrives - if it's winter you will need some warm stuff as well as summer stuff.

We thought we could fit everything in - we couldn't and are currently waiting for two boxes to be sent from a friend who has stored them for us.

I really wished we had done this - instead we had to put up with crap blunt knives in the furnished place and not much better cheap ones purchased from Ikea.

Also a some cultery - we were going to do it but just forgot about it when we had a zillion other things to do

If you take a laptop, you could put the photos on there.

Copies of your resume so you don't have to go finding somewhere to print it out.
Also, this may be another subject entirely, but make sure you have IN WRITING that you are allowed 120kg for your baggage allowance (if that is extra than normally allowed.)

Good idea and also you can now get inernet connection on the plane with Singapore Airlines. My husband was given a voucher but you can buy them too. I can't remember how much it was but I know he thought it was reasonable

Take your cutlery, a couple of mugs, some good coffee, some cooking utensils, such as large serving spoons if they're not already gone on the ship.

Tin opener is one of the things we bought immediately.

Digital camera. Few kids DVD's that you can play on your laptop.

Bank statements, mortgage statements, doctor's medical printouts from your GP, phone numbers etc - any documentation because you will need it on arrival!
