Default Rekkie to Perth and Brisbane - hotel recommendations

Hi

Have been on the phone all morning getting prices for our rekkie to OZ during the easter break ( have to go then as a teacher and we are hoping to get in and be over there in September - you may think we are crazy but you have to be positive!)

Managed to get a flight with Qantas to Perth, then Brissie and back to the uk. Is costing £922 inc tax each which I think is okay compared to other quotes - especially during easter.

Anyway I have been searching on the internet for accomodation in Perth and Brisbane. Will need 4 nights Perth and 5 nights Brisbane. Any recommendations?

Flight gets in Perth at 00.35 am so am worried about picking up a hire car and driving after a long night but no airport hotels? What have you all done? Are there hotels that pick up from hotle and then maybe get car hire delivered to hotel. We want to spend an absolute maximum of £600 for the total of 9 nights but less would be better.

I have tried expedia etc but really looking for recs, thanks
Michelle

Hi,

we've just come back from our reccie to Perth. We stayed at the Rendezvous Observation Hotel in Perth. It's right on the beach (Scarborough).

There is a free shuttle bus into town, as well as the Transperth bus into town from outside the hotel. Coles supermarket is just across the street. Bike hire place just across the street. And if you hire a car, it's very easy to get into town or north, south or east from the hotel.

They've got a website: http://www.rendezvoushotels.com/perth/

I emailed the hotel before we flew out, and they arranged for a shuttle bus to come and pick us up from the airport, as we didn't want to have to drive in a strange city after such a long flight. Next day, the hire car company came and picked us up and took us to the car.

Try www.gold-coast.net/, we've stayed at Crown Towers in Gold Coast, and Contessa, on main beach, we would recommend both.

Hi, we're going out in 2 weeks to Perth for our reccie trip, but are renting a house (there are 9 of us for 3 weeks!).....have you thought about a private rental? Hotels can work out quite expensive, we found it was cheaper to do a short term rental....I'm sure you could get one cheaper?????

try www.staywa.net.au this is full of hotels, b&b's, backpackers accommodation, appartments etc.....

Also if you need to hire a car in Perth ... www.bayswatercarrental.com.au are by far the cheapest!!!...I spent hours pricing loads up, this is who we booked through, they don't need any deposits just a name. Works out $28 dollars a day, unlimited mileage.

Hi, we had exactly the same experience last time, did'nt want to drive straight away etc. We stayed at the crown plaza in Perth which is on swan river. We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel I think it cost about $30. then when we got up the next day we just got a bus into the city and picked up the car. The crown plaza was a good base to start as you could walk into the CBS and have a good look around. It was quite cheap as well. We also stayed at the Rendezvous a couple of nights, i just loved the pool. I have a pic of it for my screensaver, how sad is that!!!! The Rendezvous was a bit dearer, I think it was about $170 a night. Best of luck anyway, hope you have a great time
