Default Different Names for an Individual

Hi - There is a friend of mine who have already received the invitation to apply the VISA. but he is having a serious issue in his name, the problem is his birth certificate and the passport carries different names.

would this be a problem in the visa process?

given below is an example how the names are printed.

Birth Certificate - - > Don James Packer

Passport - - > James Packer Don

Cheers,
PB

Well yes, presumably his birth certificate is his correct name? In which case he needs to correct passport, why on earth wouldn't he have done this anyway?

I think the passport office might have done it by mistake, however this is his second passport and the first passport has been used for 10 years with the same name and 5 years done with the second passport as well, on top of that he has given the name in passport for all his Degree certificates, registrations, IELTS and State Sponsorship even to lodge the EOI.

What do you think on changing the name on passport? would you think that it is possible at this stage? or can he provide a statutory declaration for the different names?

Cheers,
PB

The first questions on form 80 ask you to list all the names a person has been known by but it may be best to seek advice from a MARA agent since the names used to not match the birth certificate.

Just to add some points to the same question, he had not encounter any issues during the IELTS, Skills Assesment or the State Sponsorship Application. why i mentioned this was he has academic and professional certificates in both names where some certificates are having one name and the others having a different name.

Although this is the case, his names are almost similar and just a juggle of the surname where in one name it was printed in the front and the other it was printed at the back.

Confused..

As a previous poster with a similar issue was told - the visa will be issued showing the name on the passport - if thats not the name he uses in day to day life he could have issues as he is moving to a country which is anal about ID.
