Default Online citizenship application and payment

Am I reading this right, that in order to complete an online citizenship application you need to pay by credit card and that's the ONLY mechanism - but they are charging a surcharge for it?

What's wrong with a debit card, or BPAY, etc. ?

On the paper form, there are options to pay by cheque, money order, debit card and credit card - but debit cards cannot be used for online or mailed applications according to the form. Does say credit card is the preferred method. Couldn't see any option for BPAY.

That's what I've seen on the form as well, but other parts of the website reference other mechanisms - and it seems very weird to try to limit it to credit cards (particularly since I don't have one).

Can you make a paper application instead at your nearest office - they will accept debit cards it seems.

Could, but would prefer an online application, and, really, why wouldn't they let you pay via debit card?

No idea - the credit card surcharge seems unfair when they prefer you to pay that way too.

I dont remember paying a CC surcharge.
I paid using an Amex CC.
Don't you have a friend/family whose CC you can use? Just pay him in cash/bank transfer.

yeah just enter the debit card number as if it's a CC, then see what happens.

it's like using an eftpos machine with a debit card, but selecting credit instead.

We don't have a CC but we used our debit card number and it worked fine. No surcharge either

Sorry to piggy back on this but I have been doing my citizenship form, added the kids on to the form but can I put my wife on the same document, or do I have to do a separate form for her, any help will be much appreciated.

Regards

Your wife will need to apply independently.
