Read a few posts from other members about how they were robbed in their own houses and they are now armed to the teeth.
Can anyone recommend a good pistol? No problems with getting a firearms licence as brother-in-law is chief of police. |

Relatives who are security guards seem to favour the Colt 45 it holds seven rounds and "would stop anything."
A relative in the police favours the 9mm Glock as his weapon of choice. Ideal for "the warning shot!" Accuracy is pretty good too. I would ask BIL what is the favoured weapon in his force at close range and why. |

There is nothing better than an armscor 12 gauge firing buck shot, nothing else comes close or even has the deterrent look, plus cheap to buy,
Just sit outside a few times cleaning it, the word soon gets around and they'll think twice, |

BIL recommends the Bersa BP9cc. Was just wondering what other expats personal preferences were.
We dont have any neighbours so sitting outside with a shotgun would be pointless. |

see what you mean, but unless your a really good shot and i am as it was my hobby( before michael ryan went mad and ruined it all for us) but the shotgun is still by far the best choice, A, you'll probably hit them with it, and B, when they see it you'll probably run a mile.(hopefully).

As a regular visitor over the past 20 years to the phil i dispair about the endemic poverty, corruption and crime.Succesive governments have failed the population time and time again.Noy Noy really needs to get a grip of the judicery and impose tough rules and severe penalties for those who break them whilest employed in any public office.Tourism will never reach its potential in the Phil until visitors feel safe and basic improvements to the infrastructure are made.Progress on these issues may then help allievate poverty through purposeful employment.Sorry in advance if i offend anyone for my rant

Noy Noy is merely expounding an attitude of 'Laissez-Faire,' in order that a relative can take over when his term finishes. Unfortunately, the 'Corruption Culture' here, will take generations before it is removed. Whilst we might be going 'Off-Topic' slightly, I would like to comment that the ownership of Firearms in The Philippines, is more prevalent than first thought. Keep clear of large 4WDs, with Opaque Windows! I had one pull across me the other day. He wanted to get into McDonalds and took up three lanes of the road, blocking my path (I had the right of way! The Black 4WD had created an extra lane for himself, and jumped to the head of the queue) His actions resulted in a long blast of my horn, as the bugger would not move; leaving me in the middle of road facing a Flock of Jeepneys! - His response was to wind down the window and point a gun! - Number noted, called Pulisya, who told me that it was their Chief of Police! - Their attitude was one of 'So what is your Problem?' (I do hope that he choked on his Burger and Large Fries! - Or goes into a Diabetic Coma with the Upsized Coke'!) This type of behaviour is not limited to The Chief of Police. Yesterday a Tricycle with 'Barangay Kaptin' chalked on the top, pulled out in front of me, and proceeded to drive at 20 KPH! Petty Officials with no authority whatsoever, who think that they can rule the road! Sorry for the Rant! - Bad Week! Last edited by jackthehat : Jun 22nd 2012 at 8:38 am. |
