Re: BULLET POINT QUESTIONS FOR FCO
Just a thought but as the vast majority of property owners are back in the UK during the monsoon, would that be a good place to hold the next meeting, rather than wait until Nov/Dec?

Well there will not be many here in April - Andy will have to hold the fort with GC. Most people are leaving the last week in March - 15 have gone home to-day.

Folks
The reply from Simon FERRAND is positive evidence that we now have the full support of the BHC on the issues of property ownership and visas. This is really good news, especially when I read from his reply that he has joined forces with EU leaders and the EU president is going to step in and write to the Indian Govt.
With this level of support growing I have no doubt that things may be changed, but it will take time. I think he may also succeed in getting the USA consulate on board as well.
It is interesting that he makes comment about how much information he takes from the BE site and IM - we need to keep our comments coming, and we need to spread the word and get other people joining up to share their stories too.
Keep up the good work Simon, nice one Noni
Dread - very pleasing developments

Re: BULLET POINT QUESTIONS FOR FCO
In view of the reported imminent arrival of the DofE in Goa (just as the foreigners they want to speak to are nearly all leaving!!!) perhaps we should ask the British High Commission to provide urgent answers to the questions we have already passed to them concerning the suitability and impartiality of Sri Anupam Kishore for his proposed role as mediator?

I am in total agreement that KISHORE is not the right person to be a contact for foreigners owning property in Goa.
He has a complete conflict of interest. He cannot be the 'witchfinder general' heading up the Directorate of Enforcement one day, then be the contact for property owners the next.
I support your move to enlighten the BHC Andy. This is a matter which needs to be addressed by them with some urgency.
Dread - serious matter

Re: BULLET POINT QUESTIONS FOR FCO
Hi Noni, many thanks for your mail, I am glad to be of help, you can publish the following short statement:
In response to your e-mail, the Chief Minister of Goa appointed Mr. Anupam Kishore as the lead on cases concerning British Nationals. The British Government was not involved in this appointment.
Our Deputy High Commissioner in New Delhi along with British High Commission colleagues met Mr. Kishore in November last year. The meeting was positive and Mr. Kishore assured the BHC that any allegations of harassment by Goan officials would be dealt with severely. He offered a personal assurance that individuals would not be targeted because they had filed a complaint.
Regarding your question on Locate, any personal information including e-mail addresses put on the Locate when registering with HMG remains with the British Government and will not be released to Indian Officials. The BHC has not yet been informed on how Joint Secretary Kishore wants to receive completed proformas for his consideration. This may be by e-mail or could also be by registered post. If British nationals are concerned about the misuse of their personal e-mail addresses the BHC can ask for a postal address if not provided when we hear from Joint Secretary Kishore.

Re: BULLET POINT QUESTIONS FOR FCO
To keep up the pressure, what we need next is an answer to what visas will be issued to people who 'have a residence in India'
