Hi, Not sure if you know about this...

www.google.co.uk/flights

Google have their own system for searching for flights now, blazingly quick and easy. Although doesn't do internal flights in India.

Hope it helps

Booked our flights 3 days ago for first week in October, London straight through to Goa, return:
E-bookers/Jet £535.95. Jet own website £12 more.
£100 cheaper than when we looked at fares in June/July.

Just booked five flights with Jet. London-Mumbai-Bangalore-Goa-Mumbai-London.
With stop-over in Mumbai each way. But they have given the baggage allowance as 23kg. per piece.
The flights are all on one ticket with a composite price.

We will see what happens!!!

We have always been allowed 2 pieces of hold luggage of a maximum of 23k each so 46k per person with Jet, including on the internal flights where they are booked with an international flight. When my family flew out in Feb there was 2 adults and 4 children and their total hold baggage allowance was 276k in a total of 12 cases/bags. They did not have anything like that much as they were only coming for 2 weeks. I carry a pair of scales to make sure that none of our cases exceed 23k. I have often seen people in Heathrow having to open cases and move things between them as one is over 23k and one is over 23k. I am already packing for when I go back.

Msj5 was saying that if you break the journey eg staying some nights in Mumbai and/or elsewhere it doesn't count as booking straight through so you get less weight allowance on the domestic flight.

According to my ticket though, it looks as though it still counts as booking 'through', if it is booked at the same time.

We will soon find out next week!!

Thanks -- We have been in India 3 weeks now. No problems with weight restriction in spite of the stop-overs. 23k each. Now in Karwar for few weeks.

Jet flight from London half empty. Very efficient landed sl. early, but food---awful!! Still as an over night flight it didn't matter.

Don't get too concerned about runway closures at Dabolim just yet. The Indian Navy plan to resurface the runway is a "proposal" at this stage. Apparently they have sent out a notice to all stakeholders, including the Airports Authority of India and the airlines using the airport asking for their comments. Post which a decision will be taken.

Unrelated but interesting . . . . Tata are setting up a new low cost airline in partnership with Malaysian Airlines (!!) to be called "Air Asia India". Yesterday's Navhind Times reports that they have asked AAI for permission to take over the old airport buildings at Dabolim for use as their All India hub.

Air Asia India is not tied up with Malaysian airlines. Air Asia is based in Malaysia.
