Hi:

I'm sighing to back to the old "Stateside Criterion" days when the consulates would accept medicals from official INS docs done in the US.

It would have made life much easier if we'd been able to do the medical here instead. It's even more difficult now that the medical is on a different day, but we'll get through it. Just be happy for it to be almost done with.

Hi Hyper

Thanks for the good wishes. I've been working, working, working!!! Don't get as much time on the PC as I used to, so I tend to just read messages when I can. Didn't do AOS because the timeline was so long for Chicago when I arrived here in 2003. USCIS have speeded things up a bit now but I can also go and see my family and friends now also, so it's a combined trip to the UK.

How is your job going? Hope you are enjoying it.

Hi Maggs,

I missed your message about having an interview date. My computer was down
for a couple of days and I just got back online today. Best of luck with the
process, when is it? BTW. I just got the "Welcome to America" letter today,
19 days after I got home from London. It says the actual green card should
follow in under three weeks.

Hi Alfie

The interview date in June 17th. I called the medial appointment line and they have given me a provisional date of June 13th and they are going to confirm that next week. We can't book flights until we've had the medical confirmed so I hope they phone soon.

It's good to hear you've had your "Welcome" letter and that the GC will be with you soon. I'll be so happy when this part is over and done with. Best of luck to you and your wife Alfie, your part of the GC process is over and you can put it all behind you fora few years!

Maggs,

Won't be too bad if you get those two dates. 13th and 17th. you wouldn't
have such a long wait for the final approval. I'm sure everything will go
smoothly, like it did for us, and when you get home, you'll wonder why you
were so apprehensive. I know I did. :) I couldn't believe that the final
interview was so painless and easy. Since we began this process, over two
years ago, Kathy and I have chanted one Mantra "Research, research,
research - Preparation, preparation, preparation" and it surely worked for
us. Best of luck, enjoy London, and do let us know how it goes

Thanks Alfie

I'm sure it will all go fine but there's always this little nagging in my mind...have I got everything??? I just hope we get out passports back in time for the return flight. How long after your interview did you fly back. We are considering that if the interview is on Friday 17th then returning on Wednesday 22nd should be ok?

Maggs,

I left Atlanta on 28th March, arrived at Gatwick the following morning and
my medical and interview was on Wednesday the 30th March My return flight
was booked for Sunday 3rd April. I confess to getting a little worried on
the afternoon of Friday 1st April when the clock's fingers pointed to 3.40pm
and I still didn't have my package with the brown envelope and passport. But
it arrived a little later in the afternoon and all was well. So it only took
two working days after the interview for mine to arrive at the hotel.
Wednesday 22nd sounds about right to me. Don't forget to tell those who
interview you and the SMS visa delivery service, that you have a flight
booked. They were all very obliging when I told them of my circumstances
regarding the Sunday flight home, especially the lady interviewer named
Dawn, she said she would expedite processing to make sure I got the package
in good time. Best wishes.
