Ah, an email update letting me know that I have been scheduled for an oath ceremony.

I'm going to stalk the mailbox for the next few days. I understand Phoenix does them every Friday. There are only two Fridays before Thanksgiving so I expect to have to wait until December. That said, it would be an awesome birthday pressie if they had it down for the 18th Nov.

It was worth the ride wasn't it. So glad you had an emotional ceremony.

Welcome to US Citizenship, dear. Wear it well.

Well, who would have thunk it someone at USCIS does have a heart/sense of humor (see look how I spell humor). My oath has indeed been scheduled for my birthday.

Default Social Security Card update.

Guys. Another update. Just checked my mailbox and my new Socila Security Card arrived. After I went to SSO to update my status to US citizen, I was told that I will receive my new card in 14 days, well, it only took 5 days. On my SSC under my number there is USA in kinda like a GOLD PRINT and next to it is 11/01/2011 Does anyone knows what that date means? My old card doesn't have any date nor USA. Thank you.

Have you no imagination? The gold USA is dead center at the bottom of the card. Think about it for a moment... perhaps it's an indication that this is some sort of redesigned official USA government document. As for the date... you got the card 5 days after submitting a change - so... that'd be about November 1, eh?

Really, now... go away and enjoy your life.

Ian

I didn't think travel to Cuba was allowed for USCs - regardless of any other passport they use. However, good luck to you!

I don't dare ask for fear of causing more fear ... but I thought gaining US citizenship meant losing German citizenship? Unlike Great Britain, they don't allow dual citizenship by default.

And what Ian said about Cuba... USCs are not meant to go, though quite a few do simply by going via a non-US airport. Cuba hasn't actually banned Americans... but the US doesn't want you to go.

Milan, you might want to read this before you make the trip:

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_p.../cis_1097.html

Just because you hold a German passport does not mean you are NOT a USC right now, and USC's are not supposed to travel to Cuba. Personally, I wouldn't risk it, especially if your flight originates in the USA. There are TONS of other places to visit in the world.
