Hi Iain. In response to your question about Residential Visa for malaysia you need to look at MM2H programme. Alternatively you get a 90 day free visa on arrival and many people just hop on a bus up to Thailand, cross the border and come back in with a new 90 visa. No problems. But with Air Asia their are many accessible places to visit for a week at very affordable prices. The bus service here is superb. Modern A/C buses. A pass for unlimited travel for a week is 280rs.I`m finding prices overall cheaper than Goa , apart from the beer.The roads are swept every morning, there aren`t any mossies at present and the shopping is great.
