Default Applying for first passport for my child...

So,

I am wanting to apply for a British Passport for my child. My wife and I were both born overseas (her canada myself south africa) and we both have british citizenship through our parents as they are were born in britain. Both my wife and I also lived in the UK for a few years before we decided to settle in Canada.

So I did some research and I came across this at the UK Border Agency website saying that our daughter can get a british passport as her grandparents (our parents) were born in Britain. Here is the link: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/br...en/bornabroad/

Now I am a bit confused as to where I need to start with the whole process.... do I apply for her citizenship first? then passport?

I had a look at the forms and I can't make out which one to start with if I need to do that first.

Or do I just apply for the passport?

Please any advice would be great!

If the criteria you linked to meets your situation, then you would need to apply to register the child as a British citizen first. Once that is approved you can then apply for a British passport.
