Question The Start Line!

Hi All,

Im fairly new here, I dont post a great deal , i prefer to sit back and take things in.

Like a few people that endeavor into thinking of moving to Aus, Im stuck.

Firstly my backgound:

Im 21, Working for BT. Finished my apprenticeship and have 3 years experience on high level Nortel Support Specialist (Voice Over IP Telephony). I also have 3+ years experience doing Web/Graphic Design freelancing.

I have a HNC in IT Practitioner and a NVQ Level 3 as IT Professional.

Which Visa would be more suited to myself? Skilled Visa Independent or Sponsored?

I would be going as a General Telecommunications Tradesperson 60 Points.

If i got a Visa as above stated, would I be tied to getting that job role? So i couldnt do Web Design?

Also you probably get this all the time but where do I start? I started filling out a Form for TRA, then got stuck at the bit about Agents and Representatives as I don't have one!.

Do alot of people use companies to help them get visa or do it themselfs if so please point me in the right direction.

FINAL : If i can get 12 months unpaid leave to explore Aus, you think I should do that first on a Working Visa rather than taking two weeks recon vacation and jumping in two footed?

Thank you for reading my essay and i look forward to your replys

Martin

Sorry if I am being completely stupid!

I think your post is a little too broad with too many questions for most of us on here

So what kind of visa. Well it is up to you whether you want to do a WHV to try it out or go straight for a skilled migrant. You would no doubt get the WHV a lot quicker and you are young enough for it, it is a matter of personal preference so only you can decide.

For the skilled migrant you ask independent or sponsored, but have you got a sponsor? Can your current employer transfer you? It is unlikely that you would be successful just applying for jobs from the UK, in which case you will need to go independent.

In that case you need to find an occupation on the SOL, you mention General Telecommunications Tradesperson, I have to say I didn't see it on the list, do you mean Communications Linesperson? If so, the first step is to ensure you meet the requirements per immi.gov.au and get your skills assessed. If this is by TRA, then you will need to persevere with that application form you mentioned!

http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupati...on-4316-13.htm

You don't have to use an agent if you don't want to, again a personal choice. It is more expensive using an agent but you will get advice and perhaps increase your chances of getting everythign right first time.

Once in Australia, nobody will make you stay in the occupation you applied for if you don't want to.

Thank you for the advise, i know i was very broad. but i thought I would try and get most of my question in one post, so I dont have to start new ones etc.

If BT will allow me to have 12 months unpaid leave in this day and age, then firstly it will be a miracle, also I think if I get the go ahead from them, i can get my WHV, then I might look for a sponsor towards the end on my WHV or extended WHV.

Fingers Crossed.

Once again thank you.
