My skills assessment from ACS took about 4 weeks, I then appealed as it was the wrong skillset, so that took 5 days to review, and after I e-mailed Victoria State SS my ACS skills letter, i received an e-mail within 3 hours telling my that I have been sponsered.

Hi All,
I am back after long time. I got a question for one of my friend. He is a Chemist currently on a student visa for his PhD in Victoria. He will complete his degree by March 2013; however now very frustrated after looking at the off list. He wants to apply for a graduate visa but unsure he will be able to do it due to the recent (13-June) changes in SOL.
He is also thinking of getting a sponsorship from Victorian government since they have a PhD sponsorship category but again getting confused based on the following note in Victorian govt website:

"Must have completed a PhD in Victoria in a specialist field relating to an occupation on DIAC's Skilled Occupation List - Schedule 1 and 2."

- Now my question to all of you...is this off list valid for SOL schedule-1 only or SOL schedule 1&2 both?

Thanks in advance!

yes it is available and the visa subclass is 190 this time. as its a PR visa however state sponsored, if you get VIC sponsorship then melbourne is included for that visa subclass.

Hi,

My ACS was cleared in May 2012. After 1st of July is the process of PR:
Apply ACS (which is cleared for me) > Apply for EOI (I wish to know cost and docs for it, if you advice that) > Apply for PR

Is there any cost of EOI? I am scoring 60 points, so should I apply for EOI for Subclass 189 rather than State Sponsorship (Subclass 190)?

You must also have the required proof of English language at the time of submitting the EoI. If you have your positive skills assessment & IELTS, then you can submit it. There is no charge for the EoI. A list of the documents needed is available on the DIAC website.

Default Getting a State Sponsorship

Hi

I have received a IELTS score of 7 and have got a Positive assessment from ACS for the Skill Code: 261111 ICT Business Analyst. I would receive 70 points, when I apply for EOI.

Is '70' a good point? Since the occupation ceiling for this Skill code is only 1800, I am planning to apply for NSW and Victoria State Sponsorship.

Any advice on this? Can I apply only for 189 Visa and wait for the invitation or it is a good idea to go for State Sponsorship with 190 Visa?

Please advice.

It's up to you whether you want to be tied to a state for two years, possibly not finding the job you want or being free to go where you want. Whilst you're tied to a State, you are more likely to be invited to apply but if you want the freedom the 189 and have the skills required with a healthy points score then you would have to wait possibly longer to be invited to apply.

No one can tell you or even suggest to you what to do. It's your life, no one elses.

It depends on where you see yourself living. If, like alot of people, you want to end up in Sydney then you are probably better off going for a NSW state nominated 190 and improve your chances rather than a 189. If on the otherhand by applying for a 190 you'd end up in a state you don't really want to go to then I'd probably go for a 189 if I had the points.
