Earthquake in Phuket
Kinda surprised that no-one has mentioned yesterday's earthquake.... first one in Phuket in modern times according to PhuketWan. Rather worrying for the tourist industry. I never knew there was a faultline going across Phuket and southern Thailand.

it was only a wee one apparently ,but about 3-4 over the weekend.

Think it was 4.5 and they are now saying the epicentre was Koh Yao off NE coast of Phuket. Some damage (cracking) to houses on Phuket. PhuketWan was making a real meal out of it.

apparently there are going to be a few more quakes in Phuket over the next month , but nothing to worry about. The Richter Scale magnifies the power ( if that's the right word ) so a quake in the 4s or 3s is nothing. Strongest ever quake in Thailand was about 5.something in Kanchanaburi in 1983 apparently , according to BKK post.
