Default Going to Goa to find yourself ?? is it a cliche ?

To people who have spent a long time there, I have known many over the years who have gone to Goa on some kind of personal journey of spiritual enlightenment. But from what I see, all they seem to do is go on a yoga retreat and get wasted by a beach somewhere afterwards.

So is it a bit of a cliche, all of this ?

I must add that I have never been to India, only Bangladesh and Burma.

Yes it is a cliche, India is like any other country full of families, workers, individuals living day to day lives. Yes religion plays a larger part in many lives, but again it is as much with social purpose as 'mystic'.
I have seen it written that Indian people tend to ask about visitors lives as it will improve their "Karma" if they are good to strangers. Nonsense they are just 'nosy' but don't hide it so much as some other nationalities!!!

Look forward to a debate, this Forum has become too quiet

So Bipat, where are you from? Do you have children? What do they do? Where do they live? Are your sons married? So how much are they earning? ... and your family - they're well to do?

You have lived there long enough -- you are Indian now!!!

Must say coming back to UK once found myself leaning on a counter listening to a customer and bank official having a 'quarrel', when they both looked at me I realised you don't obviously listen in, in UK!!!!
