New Smartphone
I'm in the market for a new smartphone. I've narrowed my choice down to 3 (I'm not an isheeple so no iphone for me):
1. Samsung Galaxy Note - huge screen, which looks cool
2. HTC One X - quad-core processor, Android 4.0, link-up to HD TV wirelessly
3. Samsung Galaxy S3 - looks like it's going to be great
Only 1. is available at the moment, other 2 are due in April (maybe longer for the S3), but I am prepared to wait a bit longer.
Any ideas?

Wait for the Phablets ? They are supposedly coming.
Whoops Galaxy note is one
Galaxy Note then.
I may actually try and get one myself.

Re: New Smartphone
I'm a samsung man myself, the note looks good but wouldnt want to carry that around so maybe wait for the s3 which could be out as soon as this week apparently. I've got a Nexus which I'd also recommend. ICS 4.0 is great.
Whatever you get will probably be surpassed in 6 months or so anyway, such goes the tech wars.

- Too big, a mickey mouse phone
- OK
- Probably OK, by the rumours
Oh, and HTC One X = no microSD slot, whereas the rumour is the SIII will have one.

Galaxy note is of interest to me, as I can use it at work on night shift to stream net radio, and talk to my Parents on Skype all night if they want, and muck around on here and other sites far more comfortably than with a normal size phone. A tablet I cannot put in my pocket whereas this is probably as big an item as can fit in ones pocket. I'm very interested in Phablet size phones. In fact I would probably use it Data only.
So depends on ones usage.

Re: New Smartphone
I love my galaxy s2, so if the s3 is anything like the s2 then i would recommend that. the screen on the s2 is big enough to read a kindle app if you so want - dont listen to music on it but the headphones that have come with it are great noise cancelling earphones - i use them in my ipod at work.

Re: New Smartphone
that HTC One X looks cool. How much is it?
Can you run a web browser on it.
I'm thinking using the phone to go to Hulu then doing the 3 finger swipe and watching it on the plasma. That would be a deal closing feature for me.

Re: New Smartphone
There is not enough bandwidth in a wireless link to stream an HDMI signal. Therefore I'd suggest they probably have an encoder in the phone and a decoder in the required box to wrap up the video signal in a compressed format, then uncompress again at the TV.
Compared to a straight HDMI connection and cable from the phone, that probably means a noticeable cost and quality impact. Not sure there is much over putting a DLNA media box on the TV and a DLNA server on the phone (like many have got) - and that way you could pull content from anywhere (like a NAS box) as well.
