Young Briton in Angola?
I recently was successful in an application to work abroad in Angola, working administration for a Portuguese engineering company that operates in the area. I have been supplied with accommodation in the capital Luanda and I am currently undergoing the VISA process, I'm only 19 years old (yeah it's a big step blah blah) but does anyone have knowledge of Angola themselves? I've been told it's relatively safe but are there any specific local customs or things I should be aware of during my time in the country? Many thanks.

Otherwise, at 19, a great life experience and I wish you the best of luck.

I do remember during the marvellous Portaguese era, a beautifull almost deserted Island just off the coast of Luanda called Isla San Tome.Had a bar trade store of sorts, not much else.
Luanda town those days had a rather european feel with the pavement cafes and portaguese wines.Casal Garcia Vino Verde, and the always everywhere Mateus Rose.
I believe the Chinese Commos are sucking up the air,and all the resources all over Angola these days, and treating the locals like slaves.
