Default Solo Travel to Milan

Hello.

I shall be travelling to Milan and Bergamo next week and was wondering
if anyone could let me know any places of interest they would
recommend. I'm only there for 3 nights, so I won't get time to feel
lonely!
I'm interested in lots of things so any suggestions will be gratefully
received.
Also, are there any good hotels/hostels I could try?

Thanks very much.

Ed.

3 nights in which of the two ? Where are you flying in (Milan Linate,
Milan Malpensa or Bergamo Orio) ? Anyhow the two places are connected
by frequent trains (on two different routes) in about one hour.

Use google or other favourite search engine to look in the archives of
rec.travel.europe about other postings (including mine) on Milan and
Bergamo.

If you are in Bergamo, you will enjoy Citta' Alta, the historical centre
up on a hill (take the funicular then walk). You might visit Accademia
Carrara (a painting gallery). You may take the other funicular to San
Vigilio if you like walking on the hills.

If you are in Milan there are plenty of museums, shops and monuments,
depends on what you are interested in (see quoted postings). Of course
Milan is larger which means more trafficked, more expensive, and you
need to be more careful.

If you like nature, you might go on the mountains north of Bergamo.

If you like nature and industrial archeology, take the train from
Bergamo to Milan via Carnate and stop at Paderno Robbiate. There is a
nice iron bridge over the Adda gorge, and you could go down and walk
along the river (hints : if you walk downstream you will see an ancient
canal with old electric plants, if you walk upstreams you will see an
old ferry, and a wildlife reserve).

But perhaps you won't have time if you are working during the day ...
