And here I thought it was Washington, well Western Washington.... Although not where we live. We only pay a measly $3k a year in property tax.
Still, I hope your schools are excellent for that amount of money, but then again, I've seen Jersey Shores....

BTW the main players on that program aren't from Joizey...they're New Yorkers.

Yikes, I'm beginning to feel very ripped
Gas average $90 per month
Cable/Internet/Phone $127 per month
Car Insurance $230 per month for 2 cars
House Insurance $38
And now the shocker
Water and Electric $200 per month (guess thats the price of having a pool)

On the lower end of the scale, just for the record:
Mesa, AZ
1,008 SF condo, bottom floor
All electric, no gas
$80 or so for electric in the hot summer months, $50 or so in winter
$139 association fee which includes water, sewer, trash, exterior maintenance
$137 for cable TV/internet/land line phone
$68 for car/home owners insurance combined
$550 for mortgage payment which includes property taxes
Usually just me here at home until hubby comes over for a long weekend once a month.

I cancelled my cable tv service in January - don't miss it at all. I was sick of paying close to $70 a month. I don't watch a lot of television anyway, mostly PBS and the network stations.

[QUOTE=lonestargirl;8819885]ChocolateBabz, those figures seem high to me and we're in the same city, although I'm within the Houston city limits.
Yup monthly - big ass house (4300 sq ft) in a new subdivision and paying MUD tax along with property tax. Pearland Utilities do seem ridiculously high but we do have a big corner plot and have to run our sprinklers every other day or we end up with yellow grass and a letter from the lovely people at the HOA. Now add to that trugreen every 6 weeks $80 to keep the lawn green, lawn cutting $25.00 a week, pest control $360 per annum and then I understand why so many folk over here choose to rent!

Is property tax fully deductable against your taxes though? Meaning you save over people renting as you have a $12k deduction

Exactly! But its the other upkeep that kills you. And with an HOA you either keep up or they can fine you (first starts the nasty letters....)
