I do not mind queueing if it is for a necessary item/service and is not too long. The sort of queueing I hate though is that of the telephone- "you are currently in a queue and your call will be answered shortly" Meantime, here is some mind numbing muzac and a few advertisements for our products. (which are rubbish and are why you are trying to get through to speak to a person not a machine in the first place.)

Gaaah! The thought of it has destroyed my grammar and punctuation.

I don't mind queuing if it is a single queue and not one where you have to pick which one to stand in.

First - oh the indecision!!!

Secondly - obviously your line is guaranteed to go ultra slow as all those around you whizz through.

I think all the furore created by the first report has made them ensure that the delays are kept to an absolute minimum, it's a political thing..

My mother phoned me the other night at stoopid o clock to tell me just about this very thing.....

Cant bloody wait for her to arrive so she can SEE that the lights are off and we are all safely tucked up in bed snoring... Only to be woken up from deep sleep and reach the phone in one of those cold sweats coz you KNOW summit is seriously wrong... Because Why else would some one be phoning at that time...?

And I'm not REALLY sure it even crossed her radar... She's not coming into the uk... She's leaving the bloody place...
Have stopped "wondering where i get it from" now

i assume you have a british/EU passport.

those lines are for non-EU passport holders. people who come there will get a bad first impression.

I once waited in line from 5am until 23.30pm for some cup final tickets for wembley

It was the first time my club made a major final and to say they weren't prepared was an understatement!

They threatened to close the ticket office at 5pm and there was nearly a riot / the police had to be called in. They agreed to stay open until midnight! I made it by half an hour! Those who didn't make it were given a voucher for priority service in the morning, that didn't go down too well either!

Anyone beat 18.5 hours waiting in a line?

We do it well in the UK though, forming an orderly line is something us Brits excel at, if there is anything to line up for we will do it. Must go back to the war when someone seen a line outside a shop they joined even though they didn't even know what they were waiting for!
