Power to the south
Anyone else had serious power savings lately?
I was in Farmers today, in Timaru, when some power guys came in to the make up department and asked if the ladies were OK with how much power they'd left them. Apparently they are turning off a third of the power in businesses to conserve energy, as our lakes are so low. The shop ladies said no they were not Ok as how can you try make up on someone in the dark, but they basically said tough, that's how it is until the lakes fill.
I spent the next 10 minutes carrying make up out into the lit aisle to see if it was the right colour.

Ah so they are serious then. rightly so I suppose. Perhaps all the lights in City Centres around North and South should turn off their advertising signs and buildings like Sky Tower be forced to reduce their outputs to a dim light or no light at all.

The DC link between the Islands is already sending Power to the South. Traditionally it always went North, but now the power stations in the NI run to full capacity and send power South at night to conserve the levels in the SI hydro schemes. SO before it was all take by the NI, now its a bit of give and take
