Default New SIN number

Hi,
how does one get or renew their current SIN number? We were issued with SIN's for one year on arrival but OH's LMO has since been changed to another employer and work permit was issued for two years. How do we renew or apply for another SIN once the expiry date occurs for the old one? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Taking your SIN card, your new work permit and your other official ID like passport and driver's licence to the next Service Canada Center?

And you will get the same SIN (starting with 9), with a new expiry date.

If you become a permanent resident, then you will be able to get a new SIN (starting with 1-7) that does not expire.
