Green Card & DV
Hi!
Once you have your GC application approved (winning DV), you have to move to
US within 6 months if I understand it correct.
It there a way to postpone the move to US, have the 6 months extended? I'm
not talking about several years, but only a couple of months.
Thank!

Why not enter the US within the 6 months period and then go back to your
country for the 2 months?

you can ask the consulate to extend it, but the chances are low. You will be better off if you enter the U.S. within the 6 months allotted and then come back to your country to finish your stuff.

Immigrant visas are not extended. It may be possible to get a new one,
after paying the usual fee again...

Hi,
We won the lottery 2003 and we did our entry five months after we received our visa. We only stayed one week in the US, went back home to sell the house and then moved to the US a few months later. That worked without a problem.
We had to file an US address though. But we had some friends living in Seattle so we could use their address and they sent us our Green Cards when they arrived to the US address.
Good Luck!
