Dubai Police Does Well...
It makes a refreshing change to read about the kind hearted side of the UAE bureaucracy. Indeed, it makes me wonder if the story may not simply be a fabrication to improve their image. If true, congratulations are in order.

Suspect the outcome would not been quite the same had she not been an Emirati..........sadly.

yeah right- the UAE should give a passport to every child born here out of wedlock and provide the mother with social care, rehab and a job?
No country does that.

Are you being sarcastic?
Almost all Western countries do. In a typical Western country passports are automatically given to any children born in that country.

You're actually right about the passport stuff. There is a lot of debate about whether that is the right thing to do though.
By breaking the law in the first place, you don't have a hope of getting the rest of the stuff though.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear.
I was not referring to the giving of a passport. However you could of course discuss the fact that an Emirati lady who married a non-national and legitimately gives birth in the UAE has no right, even though she is a fully fledged UAE citizen, to obtain UAE nationality/passport for her legitimate child??
I was referring to the rather kind and understanding treatment shown in the particular case of the lady who had "hidden" for ten years. Not looking at it from a passport view at all.

No need to fabricate the news to improve their image. I believe UAE is one of the best countries in the world if not the best and if you hate UAE that much (whatever your reason is?!!! white supremacist) just go back to where you come from (never ever see person who hates counrty or citizens and stay on their land).

I thought that was a strange story when I read it, and the more I think about it, the more I see that it is odd...
Below is text taken from the article and the caption below the headline...
But.... In 2007 when the police found out about it, it was only 7 years from the "incident" and therefore why was she not prosecuted then?
Below is text taken from the article and the caption below the headline...
- She got pregnant and used her old marriage certificate to give birth in October 2000 in Iranian Hospital.
- "At the end of 2007, Al Qusais Police Station got a report from an anonymous caller, saying there was a child around seven years old who was being neglected by his mother. "
- "From 2007 to 2009, police liaised with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the courts to issue the boy a birth certificate, which we were successful in doing. We also got him a passport. "
- "We did not prosecute the woman because the incident happened more than 10 years ago and the charges get dropped automatically."

I've missed flights by a margin of hours and still got on the next one out.
