Health Cover - Explained - Anyone ???
Hello
My family are coming over on a 457 visa to Sydney and I am trying to get my head around different Health cover policies on offer. I have read a few nightmare threads on here, so am trying to get a better understanding.
If anyone could advise me or tell me their views or experiences, that would be very much appreciated.
Thank you

I personally found WA healthcare expensive (and we were/are a healthy family) and we are Aus Citizens so if you can or have to buy the best healthcare cover you can afford, if your being sponsored does your employer not cover your health costs? Good luck with the move.

Be wary of the reciprocal agreement (if you come from UK which ostensibly has one with Australia) because it covers only necessary interventions. There have been posts on here where people have required what they considered necessary in a timely fashion but Medicare decree they are elective and therefore not covered. There are 457 specific policies which would make good sense for hospital cover! For GP treatment you should be like everyone else and co-pay if you can.

Hi Chase,
There are five main family policies that meet DIAC's requirements for the 457 visa on my website:

As I mentioned, these all meet DIAC (Australian Government) requirements so you won't have to worry about issues with your visa etc. I personally have been with Medibank in the past but they just got too expensive over time and I switched. I don't know of any 'nightmare scenarios' except when families took out cover that did not meet their visa subclass requirements.
