Can't seem to understand immigration proccess
Hi,
I am an engineering student in the UK and I'd like to be able to work in Canada as an electronic engineer.
I have found two employers that I'm very interested in applying to, but I don't understand the best way to go about the process.
I currently have no work permit/visa or anything to be in Canada. I have no family in Canada either, but I do in the US.
Is it completely impossible for me to apply, or should I try to get a temorary work permit and work my way up from there? Is it worth paying the costs of getting a work permit even if I haven't applied to any jobs yet? Is it worth applying to any jobs if I don't have a work permit?
I really hate bureaucracy :/

Check out the wiki above. You cant apply for TWP without employer and LMO. If under 30 and meet requirements you could look at IEC

Then when you have worked for someone for a while you can probably (with luck) leverage that into a longer term work permit or PR....
Or you might decide that maybe Canada isnt what you thought it was and be able to move on having got it out of your system. Win-Win either way.
Places are limited and go fast though

Yep, the 2013 program opened half an hour ago and visas are predicted to go within days. So OP, if you're interested (and assuming you're aged 30 or under of course), don't delay!!
The IEC would be your easiest option by a mile as it's an open work permit so you would be work authorised and any employer wouldn't need to go through the paperwork/hassle/wait of hiring you on a normal Temp Work Permit.
If you're not aged 30 or under, or you miss out on a visa, then as has been said above, you'll need a written job offer and Labour Market Opinion to get a Temp Work Permit, it's not something you can apply for first.
