Good Afternoon!

I am moving to Ijmuiden soon and am currently looking for work the North of Holland.
I am English, have experience in Administration, Tele-marketing, Retail and Bar Work.
Any pointers would be fantastic as to where I could start looking for work, I would consider any of the above.

Knock on DFDS, Ijmuiden door (daily ferry Company to Newcastle) to see if they have anything. Other big employer could be Corus, Velsen-Noord.
(Big steel factory). Just get yourself written in with all the job agencies in the Ijmuiden area. Start Dutch classes NOW. The only person you know when you move here will be your boyfriend. So get a social life yourself and place some cards in ENGLISH in local supermarkets stating your looking for other english speaking expats. It also helps in a job search - It's not what you know, but who you know.......

Ijmuiden is like Telford but without the seaview!

Ijmuiden is in the province of Noord Holland but it is not in the North of Holland as you have stated.
To work in bars, and maybe on the ferries too, you could well need to have passed your exams in HORECA (there is plenty on info about this on other threads),
Hopefully you will pick up Dutch soon as it is important to be able to speak some, especially job wise.

your not to far from amsterdam 20 mins or so on bus so u could try the english and irish bars there good luck
